The quick version
Open You > Data sources > Connect Apple Health. Choose Water read and write access separately. Frewli exports plain and mineral water; other drink types stay in Frewli. Log each drink once, then check its original record before adding it again.
This guide covers Frewli 1.1.1, checked October 15, 2026. The current App Store description confirms that Health sharing covers water and mineral water, while other drinks stay in Frewli.
1. Know which records sync
| Record | Direction | What to expect |
|---|---|---|
| Water saved by another Health app | Health → Frewli | With read access, Health Water entries can join your record. Imported entries are read only in Frewli and are not exported again. |
| Plain or mineral water logged in Frewli | Frewli → Health | With the connection and write access enabled, eligible entries and their later edits or deletions can sync to the corresponding Health records written by Frewli. |
| Coffee, tea, milk, juice, soft drinks, sports drinks, energy drinks, or Other | Stays in Frewli | These drink types are not exported as Health Water. Sodium and caffeine entries are not exported either. |
Frewli's drink total and Health's Water total can therefore differ. A logged coffee can count toward Frewli's goal without creating a Health Water entry. An imported Water amount also does not identify its original drink type or total beverage volume.
Logging and importing are record keeping. Frewli and Apple Watch do not automatically measure each drink.
2. Connect Apple Health in Frewli
- On iPhone, open Frewli and select You > Data sources.
- Tap Connect Apple Health and review the system permission sheet.
- Choose Water reading to import Health records and Water writing to share eligible Frewli water records.
- Return to Frewli and let sync finish. For a later refresh, use Sync now in Data sources.
Health access is controlled by type. Granting workout access does not grant Water access. Simply connecting does not bulk-export all older Frewli drinks; use a newly logged plain-water entry to verify your setup.
3. Review Water permissions in Health
Open Health > Summary, tap your picture or initials, and find Apps under Privacy. Select Frewli and review the Water read and write controls. Apple's guide to sharing Health data with apps explains this route.
If another app is your starting point, it also needs permission to write Water to Health. Frewli cannot import a record that the other app never saved there.
“Connected” does not confirm read access
For privacy, Apple does not tell an app when you deny reading a Health type. An empty result or connected badge cannot prove that Water reading is enabled. Check your choice in Health. See Apple's HealthKit authorization explanation.
4. Record each drink once
Suppose you record 350 ml at 12:30 in another app, which saves it to Health. Let Frewli import that entry rather than adding the same drink manually.
Later, record a different 500 ml plain-water drink on Frewli's Today screen. With Health connected and writing allowed, that entry can export after the short Undo window. Those two drinks represent 850 ml. Adding the first one again would produce 1,200 ml of records for 850 ml consumed.
Frewli uses entry identity and version information to recognize its own exported water records. That does not merge independently logged copies of one drink from different apps. The amounts above illustrate logging, not suggested intake.
When logging from Apple Watch, wait for the entry to reach iPhone instead of creating a second one there.
5. Trace and correct one entry
- Find the original. In Health, open Water under Nutrition, then Show All Data. Compare the date, time, and amount. Data Sources & Access shows contributing apps and devices. Apple's Health data management guide explains these views.
- Check eligibility and direction. A missing coffee export is expected. For plain or mineral water, review Water writing; for a missing other-app import, review Water reading.
- Refresh without logging again. Reopen Frewli and use You > Data sources > Sync now. Water sync pending means queued water changes await sync. Reopening lets failed queued changes retry. Verify the individual Health record afterward.
Use the short Undo immediately for an accidental new entry. For later corrections, open Today > Today's drink history, choose an editable Frewli drink, then Edit drink or Delete drink.
With Health connected, eligible water changes are queued to update or remove the corresponding record written by Frewli in Health. Changing a water entry to a drink type that does not export can also remove its former Health Water record.
Imported entries are read only in Frewli. Correct those records in Health, then refresh the connection. Frewli cannot edit another app's Health record. Compare sources before deleting: two equal amounts can be two real drinks.
If the record still cannot be traced, contact Frewli support with your app and iOS versions, drink type, logging route, and whether the entry appears in Health.
