The quick version
Add or import your workout and record each drink once. On the recovery card, use Log sodium or add a drink label to update an existing drink, add an unlogged electrolyte drink, or record sodium from food without adding volume.
1. Start with one workout record
Frewli's Training tab keeps your workout history. You can add a session yourself or import workouts from Apple Health after granting permission in You > Data sources.
Check the activity and duration before using the recovery view. If the workout is already imported, do not create a second manual record of the same session. A duplicate workout can make the daily plan harder to interpret.
On Today, the workout contributes to the day's water goal and can show a recovery card. Adding or importing a session changes the plan; it does not add a drink to your consumed total.
Keep that distinction in mind when comparing the two numbers. The goal describes the app's plan. The consumed amount describes drinks that have been logged. This guide follows the controls in Frewli 1.1.1, checked October 15, 2026.
2. Record each drink once on Today
After drinking water, choose the matching amount on Today and tap Add water. Eligible water entries also update workout recovery, so you do not need to create a second entry for the recovery card.
You can also log water from Apple Watch. That entry syncs into the daily record. Avoid adding the same drink on iPhone because you have not yet seen the Watch entry arrive.
If you tap the wrong amount on iPhone, use the short Undo prompt while it is available. For a later correction, open Today's drink history, choose the editable drink, and tap Edit drink. Correct the entry rather than making up another drink to balance the total.
One drink, two views
A water entry can appear in daily progress and contribute to eligible recovery. Those views do not mean you drank twice. Use the consumed total to check the actual logged volume.
3. Read sodium from the amount you consumed
On the recovery card, tap Log sodium or add a drink label. Choose Add label to a logged drink when its volume is already in your history, or Add a new electrolyte drink when you have not logged it yet. Food and supplement sodium has its own separate input.
Use the sodium amount on the food or drink label, adjusted for the portion you actually consumed. Check the basis of the label first: per serving, per bottle, or per 100 ml can produce different numbers.
- Per serving: multiply the listed sodium by the number of servings you consumed.
- Per bottle: use the relevant fraction if you only finished part of it.
- Per 100 ml: multiply by the consumed volume divided by 100.
Enter sodium, not the total weight of an electrolyte powder and not an unspecified “electrolyte” amount. A product can contain several minerals; Frewli's sodium field tracks sodium specifically.
The drink editor offers separate sodium and salt units. Choose the unit matching your label; do not paste grams of salt into a field set to milligrams of sodium. If the label amount or portion is unclear, check the manufacturer's information instead of guessing.
4. Work through a label example
This example shows recording math, not an amount to consume. Imagine a drink label lists 200 mg sodium per 250 ml, and you finish 500 ml. That is two label servings, so the recorded sodium is 400 mg.
| What you already logged | Choose | Result for this drink |
|---|---|---|
| The 500 ml is already in Today | Add label to a logged drink, then Edit drink | Keep its 500 ml; add 400 mg sodium to the existing entry. |
| The drink is not logged yet | Add a new electrolyte drink | Create one 500 ml entry containing 400 mg sodium. |
If the drink is already logged
- Choose Add label to a logged drink and select the existing 500 ml entry.
- Tap Edit drink. For this sports drink example, choose Sports or electrolyte drink under Drink type and keep the volume at 500 ml.
- Expand Caffeine and sodium (optional). Set the sodium unit to mg sodium in this drink, enter 400, and check the calculated sodium shown below.
- Tap Save changes. You updated the original drink; you did not add another 500 ml.
If the drink is not logged yet
Choose Add a new electrolyte drink. Enter 500 ml, open the composition fields, and enter 400 mg with the unit set to mg sodium in this drink. Check the time, then tap Add drink. Do not also add those 500 ml on Today.
Both routes leave one 500 ml drink with its 400 mg sodium label amount. Sports and electrolyte drinks stay in Frewli rather than exporting as Apple Health Water; the Health sync guide explains which types share with Health.
If the sodium came from food or a supplement
Use Sodium from food or a supplement on the recovery form. Enter the sodium from the portion you consumed in milligrams, then tap Save food or supplement sodium. This route adds no drink volume. For a bottle or glass, use a drink route above.
If you entered a drink incorrectly, edit that drink in its history. Avoid creating a second sodium entry to try to compensate for an incorrect first one.
5. Keep estimates separate from measurements
Frewli's workout water and sodium figures are estimates based on the session and sweat profile. The app is not measuring the sodium concentration of your sweat, and its sodium estimate is not a measurement of every mineral lost.
Open View workout for the workout context and more detail about the estimates. If a figure seems surprising, check the session duration, activity, imported data, and profile before interpreting it.
Recovery completion follows logged fluid progress. The sodium estimate is optional guidance and does not have to be covered to clear the recovery card. This is a status of the record relative to its model, not a medical test or proof that you need more intake when the card remains incomplete.
This guide explains app recording. It does not set a drinking or sodium target. If a clinician has given you specific fluid or sodium guidance, use that guidance rather than a tracking estimate.
Common questions
Why did my goal rise after adding a workout?
The workout adds an estimated contribution to the daily plan. It does not increase the amount you have logged as consumed.
What if I already logged the drink as water?
Use Add label to a logged drink, then Edit drink. Keep the original volume, choose the actual drink type, and add its label amount. Creating another drink would count the volume twice.
Can I record sodium from food?
Yes. Use Sodium from food or a supplement and save the known consumed sodium amount. This separate route does not add water or another drink.
Does “Recovery done” mean my hydration was measured?
No. It reflects logged fluid progress against Frewli's recovery estimate. Sodium guidance is optional. The app provides wellness and fitness estimates, not medical-grade monitoring.
