The quick version
Open You > Account & sync. Check the email line, tap Sync now and read the latest message below the button. Email sign-in is optional: choose Sign in with email to request and verify a one-time code. A cloud status is not proof that every record can be restored after reinstalling.
These steps match Frewli 1.1.2, checked October 29, 2026. Cloud account sync, Apple Health sharing and Apple Watch communication have separate controls.
1. Find the account currently in use
Choose You > Account & sync. The first card shows a cloud status and either your email address or No email sign-in. Expand How cloud sync works for the app’s explanation.
Frewli saves on this device first. When cloud sync runs, it can use an anonymous cloud account without an email address. No email sign-in therefore does not mean that records stay only on your phone. The privacy policy describes the profile, logs, workouts, preferences and other records that can sync.
The app can store its anonymous session in iCloud Keychain when available, with a local fallback. This session storage is not a guarantee that all history will return on a different device.
2. Sign in with a one-time email code
Tap Sign in with email, or Manage email sign-in if an email is already shown. This opens Cloud Sync with a Secure Sync heading.
- Enter your address in Email, then tap Send Code.
- Wait for the result message. After a successful request, check that inbox for the code.
- Paste it into One-Time Code and tap Verify And Sign In.
- After success, the sheet closes. Return to Account & sync and check the email line and latest sync result.
Done closes the sheet; it does not verify an address. If a request or verification fails, read the message in the sheet. Do not send your one-time code to support or include it in screenshots.
3. Run a cloud refresh
In Account & sync, tap Sync now. It saves current profile and preferences locally, then attempts to read and merge remote data and upload the resulting state for the current cloud session. Wait for the button to finish Syncing… and read the result.
Email verification itself first uploads the current device’s state after signing in. It is not a restore-only operation or a promise to combine separate anonymous and email accounts. Use the account you intend, rather than trying different addresses to search for missing records.
4. Read the latest result, not just the badge
The heading can say Not verified yet, Synced or Sync pending. A successful manual refresh reports Cloud sync complete. A failed attempt can instead report Saved on this device. followed by an error.
Read both the heading and any message below Sync now. A previous Synced heading can remain after a later manual attempt fails. Neither the badge nor a success message is a record-by-record backup audit.
After refreshing, locate a drink you remember logging today and an older entry. Do not add another copy simply because a sync message is unclear; first check the drink’s date and history.
5. Check before changing devices or reinstalling
Keep the original installation and its records available while checking the intended account and sync result. If important history is missing or an error remains, contact support before deleting the app or switching accounts. Email sign-in does not guarantee full recovery.
Apple distinguishes offloading an app from deleting it: offloading keeps its documents and data; deleting removes the app and its related data. Neither is a cloud-sync test. Delete Frewli account is a separate deletion workflow, not a refresh button.
6. Match the control to the missing data
For Health water permissions, use the Apple Health water-sync guide. For Watch logging and communication, use the Apple Watch guide. Signing in with email does not itself prove either connection works.
If you need help, describe the screen, the exact error and your app/iOS versions. Keep codes, private health records and account details out of public screenshots. A clear status message is more useful than repeatedly reinstalling or logging the same drink.
